Taylor Shellfish Farms' Hatchery in Quilcene, WA on Dabob Bay and their Production Facilities in Shelton, WA. In order to prosper, the company needs clean healthy water for the larvae to develop into seed oyster. From the hatchery, the seed oyster is distributed throughout Puget Sound and Washington/Oregon coastline where the natural currents of the Pacific Ocean effect the growth and health of this food source. But ocean acidification is effecting the development of these mollusks, prohibiting full and healthy growth of their calcium carbonate shells. What is the future of the oyster culture if we continue burning fossil fuels and causing the climate to warm-up at faster then expected results due to our industrial state?
